Zach, was designed as one part of a larger system and whilst exhibited round Europe, sat on a carcassing timber frame that also protected him during transit. The stops included Paris, Zurich, Milan, and rural southern Austria. 

 

Zach is formed from 3D sand printing, which is a relatively young incarnation of common 3d printing technology, but traditionally has been used in foundries to produce molds for metal in casting.

During the project we experimented with an ‘object oriented’ approach towards design, and personified the part, treating Zach as the third companion on the journey, but also treating ourselves as parts, fascinated by the problems faced transporting and displaying the three of us.
